Lenora Porter
Ridgway Christian School

Lenora Porter truly believes that divine providence has both led and prepared her for the role of RCS administrator. She fully believes that educators are “called” just as ministers are “called,” and she sensed the “call” to teach as a young child living in Kansas – though fulfillment of that dream was deferred until she had moved to Arkansas with her husband. She actually began substituting in the Pine Bluff School District when her children were in school. After substituting for six years, the “itch” to teach was still there, so Ms. Lenora began pursuing a teaching degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. After graduating with honors, she continued her education at Ouachita Baptist University, receiving a Masters in Education.

While teaching in the Pine Bluff School district, Ms. Lenora was named a distinguished educator in Who’s Who among America’s Teachers (1996) and received the Association for Direct Instruction’s Excellence Award (1997). After teaching eighteen years, Ms. Lenora took a job with an independent educational consulting firm. She spent the next fourteen years traveling all over the eastern half of the United States training and coaching teachers. She appreciates the opportunity she had to impact the lives of so many teachers and students in numerous locations during that time.

When she began to consider retirement from the consulting job, she never imagined that God was preparing to “call” her to her next opportunity to make a difference in the field of education, the ministry of being a part-time elementary principal at Ridgway Christian School. Of course, that part-time position eventually became a full-time position, and it is certainly not hard to see that God has been preparing her for her most recent “calling” to be RCS administrator.

Ms. Lenora’s passion to teach and train children through the years has been surpassed only by her commitment to serve God with all of her gifts, abilities, and strength. Now her passion has reached a new zenith of fulfillment because she can play a role both directly and indirectly to teach and mentor students – not just academically but also spiritually. Not only is Ms. Lenora totally dedicated to RCS but also family, church family, and church ministry are really important to her. She and Bob, her husband of forty-six years, lead the Sonshiners’ group (senior adults, 55+) at First Assembly of God. They have two adult children and four granddaughters. Their daughter (Kim) and her husband (Steve) and two granddaughters (Baylee and Haylie) live in Ralls, TX, near Lubbock. Their son (Steve) and his wife (Jill) and two granddaughters (Kayla and Payge) live in Keller, TX, near Ft. Worth.
