Adult Ministries

It is easy to erroneously assume adults have fewer needs because our world is so technologically advanced or that they are just too busy to participate in ministry options, but First Assembly practices a strong commitment to minister to the diverse needs of adults - regardless of age, gender, or special circumstances.

In addition to corporate worship and dynamic pulpit ministry, adults need discipleship, mentoring, fellowship, etc.  Christian Education opportunities at First Assembly include the option of selecting from different topical electives each quarter, offered during Sunday school (10:00 A.M.) each Sunday morning.  Other classes target specific needs (e.g., Turning Point, which meets at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evenings to address life-controlling issues).

Men’s and women’s ministries meet separately (after brief combined worship at 6:00 P.M.) the first Sunday evening each month.  These opportunities facilitate fellowship and service (e.g., missions’ projects) and include gender-relevant speakers and discipleship.  The Sonshiners (men and women who are fifty-five or older) meet the second Tuesday of each month at 11:30 A.M. for a potluck fellowship.  Inspirational and information speakers, topics, and age-appropriate programs are included each month.

Some adult ministry is targeted to specific groups with the primary purpose of providing fellowship and social interaction.  The Bridge (for young adults who are eighteen and have completed high school through thirty years of age) and the Divorced and Widowed Ladies’ Group are two such activities.

Our adult ministry is committed to growing men and women in relationship to God, their family, and their community. We believe that it is our responsibility to challenge you to a higher level of living. With God's help we are empowering men and women in our community to be leaders in the church, home and life.
