Here at Pine Bluff First Assembly, we are many things -
passionate, devoted, loving - just to mention a few. But
most of all, we are family
- a family that loves God and
people.
Because the people make the church great - not the physical
structures, we invite you to become familiar with the people
who are part of our church family and celebrate the
ministries that you will also see represented.
It is our prayer that this will serve as a reminder of God's
incredible blessings to us, to our families, and to this
congregation. We hope that the few pictures you see here can
give you a glimpse of who we are and what we are all about.
Senior Adults Ministry
The Sonshiners group at First Assembly is very appropriately named. These delightful people, ages fifty-five and older, literally spread the joy and light of the Son (of God) in and through everything they do. They brighten their world, both with contagious joy and dedicated service. They are loyal to their God, their families, and their church, and that dedication definitely shows!
Because social interaction is important for all ages, emphasis is placed on time to enjoy friendship and fellowship. Therefore, meetings are scheduled for 11:30 A.M. the second Tuesday of each month to facilitate regular interaction. These meetings are designed specifically for the Sonshiners. In addition to a delicious meal and infectious fun, relevant programs, a variety of speakers, and entertaining activities are planned for each meeting.
An annual spring trip to Branson is typically the social highlight of the year, and there are stories, photographs, and video clips to prove that this bunch takes a back seat to no young adventurers – the brave even daring to bungee jump. Periodically there are other local trips and activities of interest planned as well.
Though fellowship opportunities are important, a strong commitment to service also resonates in the hearts of these veterans of the faith. They lead the charge in the arena of service. It is not unusual to find them manning just about any project in the church and many in the community as well. They selflessly invest time, energy, and valuable experience in project after project. They have cooked and served meals, worked on building additions, served on clean-up teams, delivered food to shut-ins, taught and mentored younger people, and on and on the list could go. Rather than finding a rocking chair and watching life pass them by, the Sonshiners of First Assembly are “young at heart” and doing everything they can to “rock” their world for Jesus.
