Tim Shurley
Children's Pastor

It is a rare thing to find a young man who is so obviously suited to be a children’s pastor. Without doubt, Pastor Tim Shurley is the prototype of passion, energy, and creativity. Though he is very talented and capable in a wide range of fields (e.g., media, drama, music, etc.), he chooses to “give everything he has” and “leave it all out there” every time he ministers to kids, and nobody who has ever observed him or participated in his children’s services or chapels will argue that point. His high-octane ministry style engages and entertains kids, while clearly presenting the gospel message at their level of understanding.

Though he has had opportunities to become involved in other ministry venues, he persistently contends that children are his “calling,” a calling he sensed very early in life and pursued with determined passion. In fact, he actually began his ministry to children in a part-time capacity at Living Waters Church (Assembly of God) in Cabot, Arkansas, when he was only fifteen. His ministry and training ultimately led him to Master’s Commission and then full -time ministry at The Tabernacle Assembly of God in Decatur, Georgia, (under the leadership of Sam and Jeanne Mayo) from July 2006 until he joined the staff of Pine Bluff First Assembly in September 2008.

Pastor Tim and his bride, Jill, met in Georgia. Though she is originally from Minnesota, Jill shared Pastor Tim’s desire to return to Arkansas to minister. Together they are committed to make a difference in the lives of children in Pine Bluff and Southeast Arkansas. Pastor Tim has “a passion to see children and their families come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.” No doubt, God has a special plan to use this young man for His glory and the good of children.
